BUSINESS AS USUAL
On a day-to-day basis, my role at EY involved a mix of print, digital, and social media production. There was always something to promote across EY's diverse divisions—from Tax to Artificial Intelligence and Sustainability. I produced a steady stream of "Business As Usual" (BAU) materials, which included everything from social media posts to small brochures and leaflets designed for digital viewing or printing.
While many materials were intended for internal audiences, I also created public-facing content. I worked on informative brochures for the Tax division, engaging infographics for Artificial Intelligence projects, and more. Each project was an opportunity to simplify complex ideas and make them accessible to our audience. I took pride in ensuring that EY's communications reflected the breadth and innovation of its initiatives, delivering clear, impactful designs that resonated with their purpose.
CREATIVE DIRECTION
Beyond day-to-day production, I was frequently tasked with managing longer-term, large-scale projects. Below are three of the most notable examples.
EY Ireland Societal Impact Report 2023
I led the creative direction, layout, and overall design of the Societal Impact Report. Collaborating closely with contributors, I ensured cohesive integration of content throughout the report. I managed the production of chapter cover illustrations by our Midweight Designer and oversaw the creation of data visualizations by our Data Viz Designer. This collaboration ensured all elements came together seamlessly, resulting in a visually compelling and highly informative publication.
EY IRELAND ECONOMIC EYE WINTER FORECAST 2024
Using the theme of "The Seeds of Growth," stakeholders aimed to convey a message of cautious optimism as the economy began to show early signs of recovery and potential expansion. The challenge was to strike an interesting balance—portraying the essence of growth and progress without explicitly showcasing it. This required a subtle and thoughtful approach to design, incorporating visual metaphors and elements that hinted at growth, such as emerging patterns, soft gradients, and natural imagery like seeds or roots, without being overly literal. The goal was to evoke a sense of possibility and gradual momentum while maintaining a tone of restraint and realism, aligning perfectly with the stakeholders' vision for the project.
EY ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR AWARDS 2023
As the Senior Designer at EY for the 2023 Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards in Ireland, I had the honour of leading the creative direction for this prestigious event, centred around the theme "The Art of Entrepreneurship." Central to our vision was the development of a branding logo that embodied this theme—a design reflective of a frame hanging on a wall, symbolising how entrepreneurship is both an art form and a masterpiece in its own right.
Collaborating closely with the organising team, stakeholders, and suppliers, we crafted a visual identity that resonated with the event's theme and spirit. The frame logo served as a metaphor for the way entrepreneurs shape, define, and showcase their unique journeys, much like an artist does with their work.
I also had the privilege of leading our talented design team, ensuring that every visual element, from event materials to digital assets, aligned with this artistic vision. Over the course of the year, we meticulously executed a cohesive design strategy across all touchpoints, ensuring that the programme of events and all associated assets went off without a hitch. It was a deeply rewarding experience to see our creative vision come to life, celebrating entrepreneurship as the true art form it truly is.
